Strawberry Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon almond or vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups chopped strawberries
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for coating strawberries)
For the Glaze:
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons melted butter
- 1/3 cup sliced strawberries
- 2/3 teaspoon almond or vanilla extract
- 1 to 2 tablespoons thick cream or milk
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
- Prepare Batter: In a medium-sized bowl, mix together sugar, milk, oil, egg, and almond or vanilla extract. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Coat Strawberries: Toss the chopped strawberries with 2 tablespoons of flour in a small bowl, ensuring they are evenly coated.
- Incorporate Strawberries: Carefully fold the flour-coated strawberries into the batter until evenly distributed.
- Bake: Pour the batter into a greased 9"x5" bread pan. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare Glaze: In a small bowl, combine powdered sugar, melted butter, sliced strawberries, and almond or vanilla extract. Mix until smooth, adding thick cream or milk as needed to achieve desired consistency.
- Glaze and Serve: Once the bread has cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top. Slice and serve.
