Unlock the secret to amazing BBQ flavor! This homemade sauce is so easy and so much better than store-bought. It’s perfect for ribs, chicken, pulled pork — pretty much everything! Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Equipment Needed:

  • Medium saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Airtight container for storage

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups ketchup
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Dash of hot sauce (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, whisk together ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey, and Worcestershire sauce. Add smoked paprika, garlic powder, and hot sauce if using.
  2. Simmer the Sauce: Bring mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Cook Until Thickened: Reduce heat to low. Cook for 15–20 minutes, stirring more frequently as it thickens. Watch for bubbling.
  4. Taste & Adjust: Taste and season with salt, pepper, or extra vinegar/honey as desired.
  5. Cool & Store: Remove from heat. Let cool slightly — sauce will thicken more as it cools. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Extra Tips & Variations:

  • Add more hot sauce for extra heat.
  • A splash of bourbon or whiskey gives it a smoky kick.
  • Brush on during the last few minutes of grilling for perfect caramelization.

This homemade BBQ sauce is rich, tangy, and just the right amount of sweet. Once you try it, you’ll never go back to bottled!
