Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef 80–85% lean
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 10.5-ounce cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 16-ounce can refrigerated biscuit dough (8 large biscuits)

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch glass casserole dish, meat thermometer

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9x13-inch glass casserole dish.
  2. Mix ground beef with salt and pepper. Shape into 6 flat square patties and arrange in the dish.
  3. Whisk cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth; pour over the patties.
  4. Tear biscuits into 3–4 pieces each and scatter over the top.
  5. Bake uncovered 30 minutes. If browning too quickly, tent with foil. Continue baking 10–15 minutes until biscuits are deep golden and beef reaches 160°F internally.
  6. Rest 5–10 minutes, then spoon into bowls and serve warm.

Notes

Use a meat thermometer for food safety. Tent with foil if biscuits brown too fast. Let rest before serving so gravy settles. Leftovers keep 3–4 days in the refrigerator. Very easy to customize with different cream soups or a little cheese.
