Amish Cinnamon Sugar Coffee Cake

A tender, buttery coffee cake with a rich cinnamon-sugar swirl—perfect for breakfast, brunch, or an anytime pick-me-up.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
For the Cinnamon Swirl:
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts optional

Equipment

  • 9×13-inch baking pan
  • Electric mixer or wooden spoon
  • Mixing bowls (large and medium)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula and a sharp knife (for swirling)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch pan.
  2. Beat butter and sugar until light. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Alternate adding dry mix and milk to butter mixture, then stir in eggs and vanilla.
  4. Mix cinnamon, brown sugar, and walnuts. Layer half the batter, half the swirl, remaining batter, and swirl; gently swirl.
  5. Bake 30–35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

– Drizzle with simple powdered sugar glaze if desired.
– Stir fresh berries or coconut into swirl for variety.
