Ingredients

  • 1 box snickerdoodle cake mix
  • 2 cans 21 oz each apple pie filling
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg optional
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar mixed with ½ teaspoon cinnamon for topping

Equipment

  • 9×13-inch baking dish

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Spread both cans of apple pie filling evenly in the dish.
  3. Sprinkle cinnamon and optional nutmeg over the apples.
  4. Evenly distribute the dry cake mix over the apples — do not stir.
  5. Drizzle melted butter evenly over the cake mix.
  6. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
  7. Bake 45–50 minutes until the top is deeply golden and the edges are bubbling.
  8. Cool about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Do not stir the cake mix into the apples. Drizzle the butter as evenly as possible. Serve warm, especially with vanilla ice cream. Yellow cake mix plus extra cinnamon works if snickerdoodle mix is unavailable.
