Ingredients

  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 8 slices bacon cooked and chopped
  • 1 medium yellow onion diced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 2 10.5 oz cans condensed cheddar cheese soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 10.5 oz can condensed cream of bacon soup
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 package oven-ready lasagna noodles
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

Equipment

  • Half sheet pan (18 x 13 inches), large skillet, mixing bowls, foil

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Brown ground beef with diced onion; add garlic and cook 2 minutes more. Set aside.
  3. Whisk cheddar cheese soup, milk, onion powder, mustard, salt, and pepper.
  4. Spread one-third of the cheddar mixture on a half sheet pan. Top with a layer of oven-ready noodles.
  5. Mix ricotta with cream of bacon soup until smooth.
  6. Spread half the ricotta mixture over noodles, then half the beef and half the shredded cheddar.
  7. Add another layer of noodles, remaining ricotta, remaining cheddar mixture, and remaining beef.
  8. Cover tightly with foil and bake 30 minutes.
  9. Uncover, top with remaining cheddar and chopped bacon, and bake 15 minutes more.
  10. Rest a few minutes, then slice and serve.

Notes

Use oven-ready noodles. Add bacon only for the final uncovered bake so it stays crisp. A half sheet pan gives the best results. Rest before slicing.
