Ingredients
  

  • 1 can 8 oz refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ small yellow onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup fresh mushrooms finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ¼ cup cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup shredded cheese cheddar, mozzarella, or Gruyère

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease an 8-cup muffin tin.
  2. Separate crescent dough into 8 triangles and press one into each muffin cup.
  3. Sauté onion in olive oil until soft; add garlic.
  4. Brown ground beef; drain if needed.
  5. Add mushrooms and cook until liquid evaporates. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme.
  6. Stir in cream cheese until melted and smooth.
  7. Fill each dough cup with the mixture and top with shredded cheese.
  8. Bake 12–15 minutes until dough is golden and cheese is bubbling.
  9. Cool in tin 5 minutes, then remove and serve warm.

Notes

Cook mushrooms until dry to keep pastry crisp. Soften cream cheese for smooth filling. Rest cups 5 minutes after baking for easier removal. Filling can be made 2 days ahead. Reheat leftovers in oven or air fryer. Excellent as dinner or party appetizer.
