Butter Swim Biscuits: The Flakiest, Most Buttery Biscuits You'll Ever Make

Ingredients
  

  • * 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • * 1 tbsp baking powder
  • * 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • * 1 tsp salt
  • * 1 ½ cups buttermilk or whole milk + 1 tbsp vinegar
  • * ½ cup 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
  • Optional:
  • * 1 tsp garlic powder
  • * ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Place butter in an 8x8-inch baking dish and melt in oven (~3 minutes).
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add buttermilk; stir gently until just combined. Lumps are okay.
  4. Pour batter over melted butter in baking dish.
  5. Bake 20–25 minutes until golden and puffed.
  6. Let cool 2 minutes, slice, and serve with extra butter or honey.

Notes

Optional: Add garlic powder and shredded cheddar for savory biscuits.
* Serve with jam, gravy, or plain.
* Store leftovers covered for up to 2 days.
