Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20
  • 1 small yellow onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 refrigerated pie crust or homemade
  • cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp onion powder

Equipment

  • 9-inch pie dish, skillet

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Press pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges.
  2. Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and cook until softened and beef is deeply browned. Stir in garlic and cook 1 minute. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and onion powder. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Spread beef mixture in the pie crust. Sprinkle cheddar evenly over the top.
  4. Whisk eggs and milk together; pour evenly over the cheese.
  5. Bake 35–40 minutes until the top is golden and bubbling and the center is set.
  6. Cool 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with ketchup, mustard, or pickles if desired.

Notes

Brown the beef deeply for best flavor. Drain excess fat. Freshly shredded cheese melts best. Let the pie rest 5 minutes for cleaner slices. Excellent with classic burger toppings on the side. Leftovers reheat well. Can be assembled ahead and refrigerated before baking.
