Cheesy Baked Sloppy Joe Sliders

Tender seasoned ground beef layered with melted cheese and tangy pickles inside buttery baked slider buns for the ultimate easy family dinner.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 12 slider buns or dinner rolls
  • 8 –10 slices cheddar or American cheese
  • Dill pickle slices
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • 9×13-inch baking dish
  • - Small bowl
  • pastry brush
  • Wooden spoon

Method
 

  1. Brown the ground beef and onion until fully cooked.
  2. Drain excess grease and stir in the garlic.
  3. Add the broth, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Place the bottom halves of the slider buns in a greased baking dish.
  5. Spread the beef evenly over the buns.
  6. Top with cheese slices and dill pickles.
  7. Add the top buns.
  8. Brush with melted butter mixed with garlic powder.
  9. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F for 15 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake another 5 minutes until golden.
  11. Serve warm.

Notes

Don't over-reduce the meat mixture.
Hawaiian rolls make an excellent substitute.
Brush generously with garlic butter for extra flavor.
Best served fresh while the cheese is perfectly melted.
