Christmas Red Jam

A vibrant, festive holiday jam made with cranberries, strawberries, red currants, warm spices, and orange. Perfect for spreading, gifting, or adding to dessert

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups cranberries
  • 1 cup chopped strawberries
  • 1 cup red currants optional
  • cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground cloves
  • ½ tsp grated nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Large saucepan
  • Spoon or spatula
  • - Sterilized jars with lids
  • Cutting board and knife
  • - Chilled plate for testing

Method
 

  1. Wash all fruit. Chop strawberries and remove stems from currants.
  2. Add fruit and orange juice to a saucepan. Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Bring to a boil, then simmer 15–20 minutes, stirring often.
  4. Test for doneness by placing a spoonful on a chilled plate. If it wrinkles when pushed, it’s ready.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Spoon into sterilized jars. Seal and refrigerate for up to 3 weeks.

Notes

Adjust sweetness to taste. Add ginger or cardamom for more spice. Use an immersion blender for smoother texture.
