Cinnamon Sugar Muffins

Fluffy muffins with a buttery cinnamon sugar topping — perfect for breakfast or anytime snacking!

Ingredients
  

Muffins:
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 egg beaten
  • cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Topping:
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ cup melted butter

Equipment

  • mixing bowls
  • whisk
  • Muffin tin (12-cup)
  • Paper muffin liners or nonstick spray
  • Toothpick (for testing doneness)
  • Small bowls for topping
  • - Pastry brush (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 12-cup muffin tin.
  2. Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, butter, and vanilla.
  4. Mix wet into dry ingredients just until combined.
  5. Divide batter into muffin cups, filling ⅔ full.
  6. Bake 20–25 mins until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. While baking, mix cinnamon sugar and melt butter in two bowls.
  8. Dip warm muffins in melted butter, then coat with cinnamon sugar.
  9. Serve warm or cool — either way, they’re irresistible!
