Classic Apple Crisp

Ingredients
  

  • Apple Filling:
  • 6 cups sliced apples
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ cup flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Topping:
  • ¾ cup flour
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup cold butter cubed

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 dish.
  2. Toss apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and salt. Spread in dish.
  3. Mix flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt for topping.
  4. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle topping over apples.
  6. Bake 45–55 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  7. Cool 15–20 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use a mix of apple varieties for deeper flavor.
Keep butter cold for a crisp, crumbly topping.
Add nuts for extra crunch.
Cover with foil if browning too quickly.
Serve with ice cream for the ultimate comfort dessert.
