Classic Bacon Pea Salad (Easy Make-Ahead BBQ Side)

A creamy, sweet and savory cold salad made with frozen peas, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, and tangy dressing. Perfect for potlucks, barbecues, and holiday gatherings.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups frozen peas thawed and dried
  • 8 slices thick-cut bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup red onion diced
  • Dressing
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • Skillet (for bacon)
  • - Airtight container

Method
 

  1. Thaw and thoroughly dry peas.
  2. Cook bacon until crisp; crumble.
  3. Whisk dressing ingredients until smooth.
  4. Fold peas, bacon, cheese, and onion into dressing.
  5. Chill at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

This easy make-ahead potluck salad tastes best after chilling overnight. Always use frozen peas for proper texture. Do not freeze. Store refrigerated up to 4 days. Ideal for summer barbecues, holiday cookouts, and backyard gatherings.
