Ingredients
  

  • - 1 cup granulated sugar
  • - 1/4 cup milk
  • - 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • - 1/4 tsp salt
  • - 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • - 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • - 2–3 cups powdered sugar sifted

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Whisk or electric hand mixer
  • Mixing bowl (for cooling)
  • Measuring cups & spoons
  • Sifter or fine mesh strainer

Method
 

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar, milk, butter, and salt.
  2. Bring to a rolling boil, stirring constantly.
  3. Lower heat and simmer for 3 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in cocoa and vanilla.
  5. Let cool slightly, then beat until lukewarm.
  6. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating until desired consistency is reached.

Notes

- Adjust powdered sugar or milk for desired thickness.
- For a mocha twist, add 1/2 tsp instant coffee or espresso powder.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
