Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch pan.
- In pan or bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
- Make three wells; add vanilla, vinegar, and oil.
- Pour water over all; mix until smooth.
- Bake 30–35 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool completely before slicing and serving.
Notes
Dust with powdered sugar or frost as desired.
Store covered at room temperature up to 3 days.
