Ingredients

  • lbs ground beef
  • 2 cans 15 oz each tomato sauce
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 8 oz sour cream
  • 8 oz egg noodles
  • cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish optional

Equipment

  • Large pot, skillet, 9x13-inch baking dish, mixing bowl

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook egg noodles until just tender; drain.
  3. Brown ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and drain grease. Stir in tomato sauce and simmer 5 minutes.
  4. Mix softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth.
  5. Layer half the noodles in the dish, spread the cream cheese mixture over them, then add remaining noodles.
  6. Pour beef sauce over the top and sprinkle with cheddar.
  7. Bake uncovered 25–30 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbling. Rest 5 minutes, garnish if desired, and serve.

Notes

Softened cream cheese is essential for a smooth layer. Cook noodles al dente. Drain beef well. Rest after baking for cleaner servings. Excellent leftovers and freezer-friendly when assembled unbaked. Add garlic powder or Italian seasoning for extra flavor if desired.
