🍳 Method 1: Pan-Frying (Ultimate Crisp!)
- Prepare Breading Stations:
- Set up three shallow bowls or plates — one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with the Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper mixed together.
- Dredge Asparagus:
- Dip each trimmed asparagus spear into flour (shake off excess), then into the egg, then into the Parmesan mixture. Press gently to ensure good coating.
- Heat Oil:
- Heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat (around 350°F / 175°C). The oil should shimmer before frying.
- Fry Until Golden:
- Working in batches, place asparagus sticks into the oil and fry for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crisp. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
- Drain and Serve:
- Remove with tongs and place on a paper towel-lined plate. Serve immediately for the ultimate crispy bite.
🔥 Method 2: Baking (Healthier & Hands-Free)
- Prep Stations:
- Follow the same dredging steps as the pan-fry method.
- Preheat & Prep Pan:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly spray with baking spray.
- Arrange and Spray:
- Lay breaded asparagus on the sheet in a single layer. Spray lightly with more baking spray to encourage crisping.
- Bake to Perfection:
- Bake for 10–15 minutes, flipping once halfway, until golden and crispy.
- Serve Hot:
- Enjoy them straight from the oven, or pair them with a dipping sauce for extra flavor!
Notes
Make it spicy: Add a pinch of cayenne or chili flakes to the Parmesan mixture.
Gluten-free option: Swap flour for almond flour or a 1:1 gluten-free baking mix.
Extra cheesy? Mix in a bit of shredded mozzarella with the Parmesan for stretchy goodness.
Dip it good: These are amazing with ranch, garlic aioli, spicy mayo, or marinara.
