A classic Kentucky-style Derby Pie featuring a flaky buttery crust filled with rich chocolate chips, toasted pecans, vanilla, and a gooey brownie-like filling. Perfect for holidays, Derby parties, potlucks, Sunday dinners, and chocolate lovers.

Ingredients
  

  • Filling
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • cup self-rising flour
  • ½ cup chocolate chips
  • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Equipment

  • 9-inch pie plate
  • mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • Rubber spatula
  • cooling rack

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Whisk butter and sugar together.
  3. Add vanilla and eggs.
  4. Stir in self-rising flour.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips and pecans.
  6. Pour into pie crust.
  7. Bake 40–50 minutes until golden with a slight center jiggle.
  8. Cool 20 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Toast pecans for deeper flavor.
Do not overbake.
Delicious warm or chilled.
Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Store refrigerated for up to 5 days.
