Easy Cheddar Cheese Rolls

Soft, fluffy rolls topped with crispy golden cheddar cheese, perfect for every meal or snack.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter for topping

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Stand mixer with dough hook (optional but helpful!)
  • whisk
  • Large baking sheet (rimmed)
  • pastry brush
  • Wire cooling rack

Method
 

  1. Activate yeast with warm milk and sugar.
  2. Add butter, egg, salt, and flour. Form dough.
  3. Knead dough until smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise for 1-1.5 hours.
  5. Shape rolls, second rise 30-45 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  7. Brush rolls with butter and add cheddar topping.
  8. Bake 15-20 mins until golden and bubbly.
  9. Cool slightly and enjoy warm!

Notes

Add garlic powder or fresh herbs for extra flavor.
Substitute different cheeses to your preference.
