Light, buttery, and perfectly crisp, this crust is easy to make and turns out beautifully every time.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 ½ cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter cold, cubed
  • ½ cup ice water
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • Pastry blender, fork, or stand mixer
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Plastic wrap
  • Rolling Pin
  • Pie plate

Method
 

  1. Mix flour + salt. Cut in butter until coarse crumbs form.
  2. Add ice water + vinegar gradually. Stir until dough forms.
  3. Divide, wrap, chill 30 mins.
  4. Roll out, fit into pie plate. Fill + bake as needed.

Notes

Best when dough is well-chilled.
Try half butter, half shortening for extra flake.
