Grandma's Pecan Pie Bars

Rich buttery shortbread topped with gooey homemade praline caramel and toasted pecans creates these irresistible pecan pie bars that are perfect for holidays and special occasions.

Ingredients
  

  • For the Crust
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup cold butter cubed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • For the Topping
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 3 cups pecan halves
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Equipment

  • 9×13-inch baking pan
  • Parchment paper
  • mixing bowl
  • pastry cutter,
  • Medium saucepan
  • Rubber spatula

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the flour, brown sugar, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until coarse crumbs form.
  4. Press into the prepared pan and bake for 18–20 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, cook the butter, brown sugar, and honey until bubbling and slightly thickened.
  6. Stir in the heavy cream, vanilla, and pecans.
  7. Pour the topping over the hot crust.
  8. Bake for another 20–25 minutes until bubbling and golden.
  9. Cool completely before slicing into bars.

Notes

Toast the pecans before using for the best flavor.
Cool completely before cutting.
Chill for extra-clean slices.
Store in an airtight container for up to one week.
