Hamburger Steaks with Caramelized Onion Sauce

Juicy, flavorful hamburger steaks smothered in a rich, golden onion gravy. The ultimate comforting dinner made with simple pantry ingredients and big homemade flavor.

Ingredients
  

Hamburger Steaks:
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
Caramelized Onion Sauce:
  • 1 large yellow onion thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • mixing bowl
  • - Spatula or wooden spoon
  • Tongs
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method
 

  1. Mix ground beef with seasonings and form 4 patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in skillet; cook patties 4–5 mins per side. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, cook onions with butter and sugar until golden, 15–20 mins.
  4. Stir in flour, then add broth and Worcestershire. Simmer until thickened.
  5. Return patties to pan, spoon sauce over top, and heat through.
  6. Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.

Notes

Top with fresh parsley or a drizzle of extra sauce before serving for restaurant-quality presentation.
