Ingredients
  

  • Cornbread Poppers
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Honey Butter Glaze
  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • Flaky sea salt
  • Fresh chives optional

Equipment

  • mixing bowls
  • whisk
  • Cookie scoop
  • Deep skillet or Dutch oven
  • Slotted spoon
  • pastry brush

Method
 

  1. Mix dry ingredients.
  2. Whisk wet ingredients.
  3. Combine gently.
  4. Heat oil to 350°F.
  5. Fry small scoops until golden.
  6. Drain briefly.
  7. Brush with honey butter.
  8. Finish with sea salt and serve warm.

Notes

Don't overmix the batter.
Maintain consistent oil temperature.
Best served fresh.
Air fry or bake leftovers to restore crispness.
Excellent alongside chili, BBQ, soups, and fried chicken.
