Mama’s Simple Skillet Corn

Ingredients
  

  • 4 –6 ears fresh corn shucked and kernels removed (about 3–4 cups)
  • 2 tablespoons bacon grease or unsalted butter
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup water

Equipment

  • Large sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Large skillet with lid
  • Mixing spoon

Method
 

  1. Slice kernels from shucked ears of corn into a bowl.
  2. Melt bacon grease/butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add corn, salt, and pepper; sauté 3–5 minutes until lightly golden.
  4. Pour in water, cover, and simmer on low for 5–7 minutes until tender-crisp.
  5. Stir, adjust seasoning, and serve hot.

Notes

• Add cheese (Parmesan or Cotija) for a cheesy twist.
• Stir in fresh herbs or red pepper flakes to customize.
