- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Cream softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes). Beat in maple syrup and egg until smooth.
- Whisk flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Fold into the wet mixture just until combined.
- Mix granulated sugar and cinnamon for rolling. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls and roll generously in the mixture.
- Place 2 inches apart on the baking sheet. Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are golden and tops are crackled.
- Cool on the pan 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
Use pure maple syrup for best flavor. Pull cookies while centers still look soft—they finish setting on the pan. Generous cinnamon-sugar coating creates the best crackles. Small batch is perfect for fresh-baked cookies without leftovers lasting days. Excellent with coffee or milk.
