Maple Cookies with Maple Icing

These maple cookies with maple glaze are the very definition of cozy comfort. Soft, buttery, and infused with rich maple flavor

Ingredients
  

Cookies:
  • - 1 cup 2 sticks butter, softened
  • - 1 cup brown sugar
  • - ½ cup pure maple syrup
  • - 1 egg
  • - 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • - 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • - ½ tsp baking soda
  • - ½ tsp salt
Maple Icing:
  • - ¼ cup butter
  • - ½ cup pure maple syrup
  • - 1½ cups powdered sugar
  • - ½ tsp maple extract optional

Equipment

  • Mixer
  • mixing bowls
  • saucepan
  • baking sheets
  • cooling rack

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment.
  2. Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Mix in maple syrup, egg, and vanilla.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Slowly mix dry ingredients into wet until combined.
  5. Drop tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets. Bake 9–11 minutes.
  6. Cool on wire rack before icing.
Maple Icing:
  1. Melt butter and mix with maple syrup. Bring to boil and remove from heat.
  2. Whisk in powdered sugar and maple extract until smooth.
  3. Drizzle or dip cookies once cooled. Let icing set before serving.

Notes

- Store in airtight container for up to 5 days.
- Cookies can be frozen, glazed or unglazed, for up to 3 months.
