Mini Funnel Cake Bites

Crispy, golden funnel cake bites made at home with simple pantry ingredients—just like the fair, only better.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Equipment

  • Medium mixing bowls (2)
  • whisk
  • Heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven
  • Candy or deep-fry thermometer
  • Squeeze bottle or piping bag (zip-top bag works too)
  • Slotted spoon or spider strainer
  • Paper towels

Method
 

  1. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  2. In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, and vanilla.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  4. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Pipe batter into hot oil in small circles or zig-zags.
  6. Fry 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  7. Drain on paper towels.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.

Notes

Do not overmix the batter—lumps are normal.
Maintain oil temperature for best texture.
Serve immediately for maximum crispiness.
Add cinnamon to powdered sugar for extra flavor.
