Ingredients

  • 8 oz instant vanilla pudding mix do not use cook-and-serve
  • 3 cups cold whole milk
  • 8 oz whipped topping thawed
  • 16 oz honey graham crackers about 1 box
  • 16 oz chocolate frosting 1 standard tub

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish, large mixing bowl, whisk, spatula

Method

  1. Whisk instant vanilla pudding mix with cold milk for 2 minutes until thickened. Gently fold in thawed whipped topping.
  2. Arrange a single layer of graham crackers in a 9x13-inch dish.
  3. Spread half the pudding mixture over the crackers.
  4. Add a second layer of graham crackers, then the remaining pudding.
  5. Top with a third layer of graham crackers.
  6. Microwave chocolate frosting 15–20 seconds until pourable; spread evenly over the top.
  7. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight.
  8. Slice into squares and serve cold.

Notes

Use only instant pudding and cold milk. Fold whipped topping gently. Soften frosting just until pourable. Overnight chill produces the best cake-like texture. Keep refrigerated. Excellent make-ahead dessert for potlucks and holidays. Clean slices are easiest with a sharp knife wiped between cuts.
