Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • 4 –5 medium potatoes diced into bite-sized cubes
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheese cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish optional

Equipment

  • Large skillet with lid

Method

  1. Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add diced potatoes and cook 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and tender with crispy edges.
  3. Push potatoes to one side. Add ground beef to the other side and break it up as it cooks.
  4. Once beef starts browning, add diced onion and garlic. Stir everything together and cook until beef is fully browned and onion is soft.
  5. Season with paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  6. Lower heat slightly. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the top. Cover and cook 2–3 minutes until cheese melts.
  7. Remove from heat, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve straight from the skillet.

Notes

Use a large skillet so potatoes and beef can brown properly. Freshly grated cheese melts best. Excellent with a simple green salad.
