Method
- Pour butter into 9x13 pan; sprinkle with brown sugar.
- Layer half the bread cubes over sugar mixture.
- Whisk eggs, milk, vanilla; pour half over bread.
- Add remaining bread, top with rest of custard.
- Cover, chill overnight.
- Bake at 350°F covered 30 min, then uncovered 15-20 min until golden.
- Cool slightly, dust with sugar, serve with maple syrup.
Notes
Try adding cinnamon, fruit, or almond extract for variations.
Leftovers reheat wonderfully!
