Ingredients

  • 1⅔ cups white sugar
  • cup evaporated milk
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 package 6 oz milk chocolate chips
  • 16 large marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan, 8-inch square pan, parchment paper, wooden spoon

Method

  1. Line an 8-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, evaporated milk, butter, and salt. Cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. Add milk chocolate chips and stir until fully melted and smooth.
  4. Remove from heat. Stir in marshmallows, vanilla, and nuts until marshmallows are melted and mixture is combined.
  5. Pour into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  6. Cool completely until firm, about 1 hour.
  7. Lift out, cut into squares, and serve.

Notes

Stir constantly during the cooking stage. Line the pan for easy removal. For cleaner cuts, chill until very firm and wipe the knife between slices. Store in an airtight container. Fudge freezes well.
