Root Beer Baked Beans

Smoky-sweet baked beans made with root beer, bacon, and brown sugar. The ultimate BBQ side dish for cookouts and summer gatherings.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 slices bacon chopped
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 16 oz cans pork and beans
  • ½ cup root beer not diet
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper

Equipment

  • Oven-safe skillet or Dutch oven
  • Wooden spoon
  • knife
  • measuring cups

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Cook bacon in oven-safe skillet until crispy.
  3. Add onion and cook until soft.
  4. Stir in pork and beans, root beer, brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, and garlic powder.
  5. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Bake uncovered 45–50 minutes until thick and caramelized.
  7. Rest briefly before serving.

Notes

Use regular root beer for caramelization.
Bake uncovered for thick sauce.
Double batch for large cookouts
