Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper optional

  • 1 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard

Equipment

  • Large skillet or sauté pan
  • Wooden spoon for stirring
  • Measuring spoons
  • Airtight container (for storing leftovers)

Method

  1. In a skillet, brown ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain excess grease.
  2. Stir in spices and cook 1–2 minutes.
  3. Add water, tomato sauce, Worcestershire, and mustard. Stir well.
  4. Simmer on low for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  5. Serve hot over grilled hot dogs with onions, cheese, or slaw.

Notes

Keep It Fine: For the most authentic texture, break up the ground beef into very small crumbles.
Make It Ahead: Tastes even better the next day after the flavors meld.
Double Batch: Freeze half for a future easy weeknight dinner idea.
