- reheat oven to 350°F.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, green onions, egg, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Roll into golf ball-sized meatballs and place in a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together condensed French onion soup, water, brown sugar, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
- Pour the sauce over the meatballs, coating each one.
- Cover tightly with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes, until the sauce thickens and the meatballs are deeply browned on top.
- Spoon extra sauce over each meatball before serving.
- Serve over rice, mashed potatoes, or noodles.
Notes
Use cooked rice only, not uncooked rice.
Do not overmix the meatball mixture or the meatballs may become tough.
For a richer version, use half ground beef and half ground pork.
For a lower-sodium version, use low-sodium soy sauce and reduced-sodium soup if available.
