Ingredients

  • 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature
  • ¾ cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 –3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 –3 tablespoons heavy cream or milk as needed

Equipment

  • Mixer, mixing bowl

Method

  1. Beat softened butter until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  2. Add peanut butter and vanilla; beat until completely smooth.
  3. Gradually add powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Beat until silky and holding soft peaks. Adjust consistency with cream or milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, if needed.
  5. Use immediately to frost cooled desserts, or store covered in the refrigerator.

Notes

Use conventional creamy peanut butter for best texture. Adjust powdered sugar to taste. Re-whip after refrigeration. Excellent on chocolate cake and brownies. Highly spoonable.
