Slow Cooker Amish Green Bean Casserole

This Slow Cooker Amish Green Bean Casserole combines the rustic charm of traditional Amish cooking with the convenience of a slow cooker

Ingredients
  

  • - 4 cups fresh green beans blanched or 3 cans (14.5 oz each) green beans, drained
  • - 1 can 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup
  • - 1 cup sour cream
  • - 1 small onion finely chopped
  • - 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • - Salt and black pepper to taste
  • - 6 slices bacon cooked and crumbled (optional)
  • - 1 sleeve buttery crackers like Ritz, crushed
  • - 4 tablespoons melted butter

Equipment

  • - 3–4 quart Slow Cooker
  • Large mixing bowl
  • - Small bowl
  • Spatula or Spoon

Method
 

  1. In a large bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, onion, garlic powder, shredded cheese, salt, and pepper.
  2. Gently fold in green beans and half the bacon.
  3. Lightly grease slow cooker (3–4 quart). Add green bean mixture evenly.
  4. Combine crushed crackers with melted butter; sprinkle over casserole.
  5. Cook on LOW for 4–5 hours or HIGH for 2–3 hours until hot and bubbly.
  6. Sprinkle remaining bacon before serving. Serve warm.

Notes

- For vegetarian option, omit bacon and add mushrooms or crispy fried onions.
- Add Worcestershire sauce or Parmesan cheese for deeper flavor.
- To double recipe, use 6–7 quart slow cooker, increase cook time slightly.
