Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Prepare Dough: Cut the butter into 1/4-inch pieces. In a mixing bowl, combine the Bisquick® mix with the butter pieces. Use a fork to blend until crumbly. Stir in the milk until just absorbed, being careful not to overmix.
  3. Knead and Shape: Turn the dough out onto a surface dusted with Bisquick® mix. Knead the dough five times. Roll the dough out to a thickness of 1/2 inch. Use a 3-inch cookie cutter to cut out biscuits. Place them on an ungreased baking sheet, with edges touching for softer biscuits or spaced 2 inches apart for crispier edges.
  4. Bake: Bake for 9 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Brush with Butter: While still warm, brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter.

Tips:

  • Limit kneading to five times for softer biscuits. This is sufficient to smooth and shape the dough without making it sticky.
  • For easier preparation, reduce the Bisquick® mix to 2 1/4 cups and skip the kneading step. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes to yield ten biscuits.
